Knicks Crisis: Star Guard Shamet Sidelined with Shoulder Injury!

New York Knicks guard Landry Shamet was forced to exit Saturday's game against the Orlando Magic due to a right shoulder injury. The incident occurred with 9:17 remaining in the first quarter when Shamet ran into a screen set by Wendell Carter Jr. while guarding Jalen Suggs at midcourt. He immediately displayed signs of pain and went to the locker room favoring his right arm.
Shamet was subsequently ruled out for the remainder of the game early in the second quarter. This injury is particularly concerning as Shamet had previously dislocated the same right shoulder during the preseason in October 2024, indicating a potential recurrence or aggravation of a past issue.
The injury comes at an unfortunate time for Shamet, who had been experiencing his best five-game stretch for the Knicks this season. He had recorded four consecutive games scoring in double figures, highlighted by an impressive 36-point performance in a 140-132 victory over Miami. Although his double-digit scoring streak ended with nine points in 23 minutes in a win against Dallas last Wednesday, Shamet still made crucial contributions by hitting a pair of 3-pointers in the final 1:02 and drawing a critical charging foul in the closing seconds to help the Knicks secure the win against the Mavericks.
In other team news, the Knicks also announced that Miles McBride was listed as questionable for the game due to an illness.
