His release, confirmed on a Monday, brought immense joy and relief to his family, who expressed profound gratitude for his safe return. A family member described his arrival home as a moment of thanksgiving, acknowledging the difficult week but celebrating his safe return.
The family also extended their appreciation to various entities for their support during the ordeal, including the Kebbi State Judiciary, security agencies, friends, and local residents. They highlighted that the prayers, encouragement, and solidarity shown by many individuals were crucial in maintaining their hope throughout the challenging period of the abduction.
The Kebbi State Police Command officially confirmed Justice Bunza's release, detailing that he was abducted from his residence in Bunza Local Government Area on July 26 and regained his freedom on August 3. The confirmation was issued in a statement by SP Bashir Usman, the Police Public Relations Officer for Kebbi State Command, and was corroborated by both the judge's family and the Kebbi State Ministry of Justice.
Despite ransom demands from the kidnappers during Justice Bunza's captivity, the police command steadfastly maintained its policy against the payment of ransom.
