Katy Perry Slams Ruby Rose's 'Dangerous, Reckless Lies' Amid Sexual Assault Allegations

US pop star Katy Perry has denied sexually assaulting Ruby Rose, slamming wild allegations made by the Australian actor and model on social media as “categorically false” and “dangerous reckless lies”.

Rose made the accusation in a series of comments on the social media platform Threads on Monday (US time), while replying to a post by music website Complex highlighting Perry’s response to Justin Bieber’s headlining Coachella set on Sunday night.

The singer poked fun at Bieber for using his laptop on stage to play YouTube videos for a crowd singalong during his set, saying “Thank God he has Premium. I don’t wanna see no ads” in an Instagram post of herself and partner Justin Trudeau, the Former Prime Minister of Canada, watching the set.

Below Collider’s post, Rose claimed: “Katy Perry sexual assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a s--- what she thinks.”

In subsequent replies to other comments Rose went on to claim that she was in her early 20s when the alleged incident happened and it had taken “almost 2 decades to say this publicly”.

"Though I am so grateful to have made it long enough to find my voice, it just shows how much of an impact trauma and sexual assault takes," she wrote.

A rep for Perry denied the claims in a statement shared on Monday, April 13. “The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous, reckless lies," says Perry's rep.

"Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named."

However, later on Sunday, she signaled a change of heart, announcing her intention to visit a police station to explore whether any of her experiences could be investigated, despite her concerns about potential statute of limitations.

By Monday, Rose provided an update, confirming, "Just left the police station."

She also extended her gratitude to all the "brave women" who have come forward with their own stories of sexual abuse, particularly those who have navigated the challenging police and court systems, acknowledging the system's frequent shortcomings and her own longstanding fear.
