Doja Cat Conquers Africa: Superstar to Headline Global Citizen's Move Afrika Tour

Grammy Award-winning artist Doja Cat is set to headline the third edition of Move Afrika, an initiative in partnership with pgLang and Kendrick Lamar, marking her long-anticipated return to her motherland after the cancellation of the Hey Neighbour festival's 2025 staging. This spring, Doja Cat will perform at Rwanda’s BK Arena on March 17 and South Africa’s SunBet Arena on March 20, finally connecting with her South African roots on a global stage.
Move Afrika aims to foster the development of the first-ever pan-African music touring circuit, driving job growth and significant economic investment across the continent. Doja Cat articulated her enthusiasm for the project, stating, “From my South African roots straight to the world stage, we’re bringing energy, purpose, and real change to Move Afrika in Kigali and Pretoria. This isn’t just a tour, it’s a movement that creates jobs and opportunities that last. I’m proud to be part of something that celebrates Africa’s creativity, invests in its future, and shows the world that Africa isn’t coming, it’s already here.”
Tickets for the “Move Afrika: Kigali” show in Rwanda are currently available for purchase. For the “Move Afrika: Pretoria” event in South Africa, Mastercard cardholders will have exclusive access to a pre-sale period from Monday to Wednesday, with World & World Elite Mastercard holders receiving their pre-sale on Wednesday. A Big Concerts Fan Club pre-sale will run from Tuesday to Wednesday. General public tickets will become available starting Wednesday via Ticketmaster. Additionally, Global Citizen plans to announce details regarding limited free tickets in the upcoming weeks.
Doja Cat is no stranger to Global Citizen's impactful events, having co-headlined the 2024 Global Citizen Festival. During her performance, she utilized her platform to advocate for awareness regarding the millions of individuals suffering in regions such as Gaza, Ukraine, Sudan, the Congo, and across the globe. Move Afrika commenced in 2023 with a Kendrick Lamar-headlined show in Rwanda and expanded to include Nigeria as a host nation in 2025, featuring a John Legend-led night in Lagos. Prior to this, Global Citizen had staged star-studded concerts in Johannesburg (2018), Lagos (2021), and Accra (2022).
Before her Move Afrika engagements, Doja Cat had already embarked on her extensive “Tour Ma Vie,” which began in New Zealand last November. The tour saw her performing in arenas across Australia and Asia through the end of 2025, and recently kicked off its South American leg in São Paulo, Brazil, earlier this month. Following her African dates, she will continue her tour across Europe and North America for the remainder of the year, culminating in a final performance on December 1 at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.
In terms of her musical achievements, Doja Cat's album “Vie” secured her fifth Billboard 200 top 10 album last year, producing two Billboard Hot 100 hits: “Jealous Type,” which peaked at No. 28, and “Gorgeous,” reaching No. 56.
