Decades Later, Rebecca De Mornay Gushes Over Ex Tom Cruise: 'Still Proud!'

ActressRebecca De Mornayhas expressed immense pride and admiration for her former co-star and ex-boyfriend, Tom Cruise,decades after their breakup. De Mornay, 65, who dated the Mission: Impossible actor for two and a half years in the 1980s, recently shared her sentiments while promoting her new thriller, Saint Claire. She told Page Six, "I’m really proud of him," and added, "We started this together, and look what he did with it.”

Their joint breakout film, 1983’s Risky Business, was the catalyst for their brief romance. In the movie, Cruise starred as high school student Joel Goodsen, while De Mornay played Lana, a prostitute. De Mornay fondly recalled their early days filming in the suburbs of Chicago, acknowledging Cruise's ability to capture the zeitgeist and achieve remarkable success in Hollywood. She described him as a “major chord” who brilliantly interpreted what America wanted, in contrast to her own “minor chord” personality.

Tom Cruise went on to achieve global stardom following his Golden Globe nomination for Risky Business, starring in major blockbusters such as the Mission: Impossible series and Top Gun. Rebecca De Mornay has also had a notable career, appearing in films like The Hand That Rocks the Cradle and The Slugger's Wife. Her latest movie, Saint Claire,which also features Bella Thorne, Ryan Phillippe, and Frank Whaley, is currently available in select theaters and on demand.
