Davina McCall Reveals Heartbreaking Cancer Diagnosis

Television personality Davina McCall has openly shared her recent breast cancer diagnosis, having discovered a lump that led to early detection and subsequent successful surgery. The 58-year-old presenter announced that the procedure was a success, with the disease caught in its "very, very early" stages, bringing immense relief.
McCall decided to reveal her experience in an Instagram video, explaining her motivation was to potentially help others. She recounted how a poster in the toilets at the Lorraine studio, encouraging women to check for signs, prompted her to examine herself. It was then that she noticed a lump in her breast, which initially came and went, but reappeared, leading her to seek medical attention. A biopsy confirmed it was indeed breast cancer.
Detailing her treatment, Davina stated, "I had it taken out in a lumpectomy nearly three weeks ago and the margins, they take out a little bit extra, they check the margins and the margins are clear." She emphasized her fortune in catching it early due to its small size and confirmed that her lymph nodes were clear and none required removal. As a precautionary measure, she will undergo five days of radiotherapy in January as an "insurance policy" to prevent recurrence, marking the beginning of her journey to stop it from ever returning.
Expressing her gratitude, Davina thanked her "brilliant" children and the dedicated staff at the Royal Marsden hospital for their care. She acknowledged the emotional toll, stating, "I was very angry when I found out but I let go of that and I feel in a much more positive place now." Her overarching message to her audience is a vital call to action: "get checked if you're worried, check yourself regularly. If you are due a mammogram then get it done and I have dense breasts and I had a mammogram in August. I was postponing the ultrasound, I just couldn't find time to do it - don't do that. Get the ultrasound." She reiterated this advice in her video caption: "The message here is know your boobs. Notice any changes. Don’t procrastinate. Get your free checkups. And never ignore a niggle. Sending out huge love."
This recent health battle follows another significant scare for McCall; she was diagnosed with a benign brain tumour in November 2024, a period during which she "feared the worst" and created an end-of-life list. Fortunately, she received an all-clear in April 2025 after an MRI scan confirmed the successful removal of the tumour. Social media has since been flooded with messages of love and support for the TV presenter, commending her bravery and the crucial message she shared.
