Crowned! Tamunosoye Karibi George Takes Home Miss World Nigeria 2026 Title!

Tamunosoye Karibi George has been crowned Miss World Nigeria 2026 in a spectacular grand finale held at the Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos. The event, organized by the Silverbird Group under the theme “Pride, Power, and Purpose,” saw 20 finalists from across Nigeria compete for the prestigious title. Beyond a traditional beauty pageant, the coronation night emphasized intelligence, advocacy, and leadership, reflecting the preceding week's leadership training and community-focused activities that formed part of the judging criteria.
The 26-year-old Tamunosoye Karibi-George, representing Bayelsa State and hailing from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, emerged victorious from a highly competitive field. She now succeeds Joy Mojisola Raimi, Miss World Nigeria 2025, who previously made it to the Top 20 and was among the Top 5 from Africa at the 72nd Miss World pageant in Hyderabad, India.
This is not Tamunosoye’s first foray onto the international pageant stage. Her impressive journey includes representing Nigeria as Miss Africa International 2024, a title she secured in December 2024 at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra, Ghana. This prior experience has undoubtedly prepared her for the significant responsibilities that come with Nigeria’s most prominent pageant crown.
Guy Murray–Bruce, President of the Silverbird Group and National Director of Miss World Nigeria, reiterated the organization's core values, underscoring that the platform is designed to empower young Nigerian women for leadership. He stressed that success in the competition transcends mere appearance, demanding contestants demonstrate meaningful contributions to society.
With the national crown secured, Tamunosoye Karibi-George is now set to represent Nigeria at the 75th Anniversary of the Miss World Festival (its 73rd edition). This global event will take place in Vietnam from August 9 to September 5, 2026, culminating in the grand finale in Ho Chi Minh City. She carries forward Nigeria's proud legacy at the international competition, notably following in the footsteps of Agbani Darego, who in 2001 became the first Black African winner in the pageant's history.
Throughout the competition week, Tamunosoye showcased a diverse range of captivating looks. Her styles included a close-up beauty portrait featuring a pink beaded neckline with sculptural 3D pink and silver metallic flowers, a soft wavy hair headshot with classic pageant makeup, and an off-the-shoulder gold sequined dress with a high slit. For the grand finale, she graced the stage in a sparkling, strapless embellished silver evening gown. Other memorable outfits included a heavily textured pink minidress with fringe detailing for her official sashing, a sheer brown mermaid gown adorned with geometric mirror fragments for the talent performance, a structured halter-neck brown satin gown with a high slit during preliminaries, and a white beaded, coral-inspired structural national costume themed "Amazon of the Mangrove" while standing in water. She was also seen wearing her official white Bayelsa state sash over a red tailored pantsuit.
