ChatGPT Introduces Interactive Visual Tools for Math and Science

OpenAI has introduced a major enhancement to its chatbot, ChatGPT, with the rollout of dynamic visual explanations designed to help users better understand complex math and science concepts.
The feature allows learners to visualize and interact with formulas, variables, and relationships in real time.
Unlike static diagrams or purely text-based explanations, these interactive visuals respond instantly to user input, creating a more engaging environment for exploring technical ideas.
For example, when studying concepts like the Pythagorean theorem, users can adjust the sides of a triangle and instantly see how the hypotenuse changes.
The same approach applies to many other formulas and models, enabling users to manipulate numbers and variables while observing immediate changes in the visual output.
To access the feature, users simply ask questions such as “What is a lens equation?” or “How do I calculate the area of a circle?” after which ChatGPT provides both an explanation and an interactive visualization module.
Interactive Learning Tools Expand Across STEM Topics
The feature currently supports more than 70 math and science topics, including concepts like the Area of a Circle, Compound Interest, Coulomb’s Law, Hooke’s Law, Kinetic Energy, and Ohm’s Law.
OpenAI says the range of topics will continue expanding, further strengthening the platform’s use as a learning tool for students and curious users.
The interactive modules are available to all logged-in ChatGPT users, making them widely accessible for both education and experimentation.
The update represents a broader shift in how AI tools support learning, moving beyond simply providing answers toward actively helping users explore underlying principles.
According to OpenAI, more than 140 million people use ChatGPT each week for assistance with math and science.
The growing demand for AI-driven education tools has also intensified competition, with Google Gemini recently introducing similar interactive diagrams.
OpenAI’s new feature complements other educational capabilities within ChatGPT, including Study Mode for guided problem-solving and QuizGPT, which helps users create flashcards and self-test their knowledge.
