Celebrity Baby Boom: Ini Dima-Okojie & Abasi Ene-Obong Announce First Child!

Nigerian actor Ini Dima-Okojie and her husband Abasi Ene-Obong are joyfully expecting their first child. The exciting news was announced through a beautifully crafted short film shared by Dima-Okojie. The film opens with her standing with her back to the camera in a flower-filled studio, then she turns to reveal her baby bump, which she cradles tenderly, exuding a sense of peace and calm. This poignant reveal, lasting less than a minute, was a carefully orchestrated moment.
For the announcement film, Ini Dima-Okojie wore a bespoke white pleated gown, featuring a floor-length design, a deep V-neckline, and dramatic cape sleeves that added movement as she turned. Side slits in the gown ensured the look remained elegant and not overly precious. Her styling included a high ponytail styled into waves, dewy skin, and natural makeup designed to let her face and emotions convey the story.
Her accompanying caption on Instagram was deeply heartfelt, starting with, “There are moments when words feel too small for what God has done. This is one of those moments.” She expressed profound gratitude, stating, “God has been so kind. So faithful. So intentional. And now, my heart is holding a love I have never known before. I get to be a mother. What a miracle. What a privilege. What a calling.”
The significance of this pregnancy is heightened by Ini Dima-Okojie's personal journey; she publicly shared in December 2020 that she had been dealing with uterine fibroids since 2017. Her community has been aware of this backstory, making the announcement of her baby's arrival even more meaningful and celebrated. She married Abasi Ene-Obong, the founder of the African genomics company 54Gene, in May 2022, a union celebrated across three distinct ceremonies: a civil ceremony on the 19th, a traditional ceremony on the 21st honoring both their Edo and Efik heritages, and a white wedding on the 28th at The Five Palm in Oniru, Lagos. Their wedding was famously tagged #AChocolateLoveStory, and this new chapter with their baby is fittingly tagged #AChocolateLoveBaby. She concluded her announcement with a powerful scripture from Jeremiah 1:5 – “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you” – adding, “Every day, I am in awe. Every day, I whisper thank you.”
