Cardano's Big Break: ADA Listed on Sony-Linked Exchange in Japan!
Cardano's native ADA and its privacy-focused NIGHT token have achieved a major listing on S.BLOX, a Sony Group-affiliated cryptocurrency exchange in Japan. This marks NIGHT's pioneering entry into the Japanese market as the first privacy-preserving token on a domestic exchange, a development celebrated by Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson.
Cardano has secured a significant win in Japan with the listing of its native cryptocurrency ADA and the privacy-focused token NIGHT on S.BLOX, a cryptocurrency exchange affiliated with Sony Group. S.BLOX, which is a Japanese cryptocurrency exchange, was acquired by Sony On-Chain Technologies Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sony Group Corporation, in August 2023.
S.BLOX officially announced that it began handling Cardano (ADA) starting August 24, 2026, and confirmed that Cardano trading is now available. To commemorate this milestone, the crypto exchange launched a campaign offering users the opportunity to receive up to 10,000 yen worth of ADA.
Simultaneously, the Sony-backed crypto exchange announced the listing of Midnight's token, NIGHT, confirming its availability for trading. This listing is particularly notable as it marks NIGHT's first entry into Japan, with S.BLOX highlighting that NIGHT was not handled by any other domestic crypto-asset exchange operators, making S.BLOX the pioneer. To celebrate the launch, S.BLOX initiated a campaign where users can receive up to 14,000 yen worth of NIGHT.
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson expressed his enthusiasm for the recent listings in a livestream, particularly emphasizing the significance for Midnight. Hoskinson noted that S.BLOX is the first Japanese exchange to list NIGHT, considering it a monumental milestone. He underscored the rigorous process token listings must undergo with the JFSA, which typically takes a considerable amount of time. Furthermore, the listing is significant because, until Midnight, no privacy coins or privacy-preserving infrastructure trading as coins had been listed on the exchange.
Providing context, Cardano's privacy-focused sidechain Midnight officially went live in March 2026, following the launch of the NIGHT token in December 2025.
