Bandits Unleash Terror: Over 170 Churchgoers Kidnapped in Kaduna Raid!

A disturbing incident unfolded on Sunday in the Kurmin Wali area of Kajuru Local Government, Kaduna State, where a gang of bandits carried out a daring attack on multiple churches. During ongoing services, over 100 worshippers were abducted by the assailants. A source with direct family members among the victims confirmed to SaharaReporters that the attackers stormed the churches and forcibly took congregants. Reports further indicate that approximately ten individuals deemed vulnerable were later released by the perpetrators. Local authorities and security agencies have been informed of the mass abduction, and investigations are expected to provide more details as the situation develops.
This latest attack highlights the persistent security challenges faced by Kaduna State, which has been a frequent target for deadly bandit assaults. For instance, an earlier report by SaharaReporters on January 3 detailed a brutal overnight attack in Kachia town, Southern Kaduna, where bandits tragically killed four members of a single family. Multiple sources confirmed that this incident occurred near the recently established Federal University of Applied Science, located in the headquarters of Kachia Local Government Area.
A family member directly affected by the January 3rd tragedy identified the victims as Mr. Bitrus Bahago, his wife Mrs. Justina Bitrus Bahago, their son Ibrahim Bitrus Bahago, and another relative, Adam Waziri. The source explicitly stated, “They are all four killed by the bandits.” According to the account, the attackers arrived in significant numbers, indiscriminately opening fire on residents and leaving several others injured. The wounded were promptly transported to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention.
Residents of Kachia expressed their terror over the attack, emphasizing that their community has endured repeated assaults by armed groups. This alarming frequency of violence persists despite the town's proximity to various major institutions and security formations, underscoring the severe and ongoing security crisis in the region.
