Adamawa Breakthrough: Police Nab Two Suspects in High-Profile Kidnapping Probe

The Adamawa State Police Command has announced a significant breakthrough in its efforts to combat crime, with the arrest of two suspected kidnappers. The arrests were made in connection with allegations of kidnapping and threats within the Sarau Belel community in the Maiha Local Government Area of the state.

SP Suleiman Nguroje, the command's spokesman, confirmed the arrests in a statement to newsmen in Yola on Saturday. He explained that the operation was initiated following a formal complaint filed on Friday, December 26, 2025, by Mr. Emmanuel Daniel, a resident of Sagal Village within the Sarau Belel area. Mr. Daniel reported that he had received threats of kidnapping from two individuals.

Further investigation revealed that the suspects allegedly claimed responsibility for the abduction of Mr. Emmanuel Daniel's younger brother, Mr. Joshua Daniel, who had gone missing in November 2024. Upon receiving this grave complaint, the Commissioner of Police (CP), Dankombo Morris, swiftly deployed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Sarau Belel and operatives from the division to conduct a swift and coordinated operation.

This rapid response led to the successful apprehension of the two suspects, identified as Sunday Yakubu, 36, and Daniel Yakubu, 38, both residents of Konjoli Village in Maiha LGA. During the course of their investigation, both suspects reportedly confessed to the allegations made against them. They are currently assisting the command by providing useful information pertinent to the ongoing inquiry.

In light of the confessions and the nature of the crime, CP Dankombo Morris has directed that the case be transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command. This move is intended to ensure a thorough and discreet investigation, ultimately leading to the diligent prosecution of the suspects in strict accordance with the law.

The Command reiterated its unwavering commitment to ensuring the protection of lives and property for all residents of Adamawa State. SP Nguroje also urged members of the public to continue their vital support to the Police by providing timely and credible information, which is crucial for effective crime fighting.
