76ers rocked as star Tyrese Maxey suffers finger sprain, sidelined indefinitely!

Philadelphia 76ers All-Star Tyrese Maxey suffered a sprain of his right fifth finger, the team announced Sunday.

He will miss the next two games and will go through further testing on next steps to return.

Maxey suffered the injury during Saturday’s 125-116 loss to the Hawks, exiting in the final minute after racking up 31 points on 12-for-22 shooting along with five assists and four steals.

The injury occurred with less than 30 seconds remaining in Saturday's loss to the Atlanta Hawks.

Maxey was involved in a collision with a teammate while attempting a steal, immediately clutching his right hand in visible pain.

He was unable to finish the game.

This injury comes at a critical time for the 76ers, who, as of Sunday night, were just one loss behind the sixth-seeded Orlando Magic.

The team has already been contending with significant absences from other key players.

Paul George has been out for several weeks, serving a 25-game suspension for violating the league's anti-drug program.

Additionally, reigning MVP Joel Embiid has been frequently in and out of the lineup this season due to persistent knee issues, missing the past four games.

Maxey has been enjoying a career-best season, posting impressive averages of 29 points and 6.7 assists per game.

His outstanding performance has positioned him as a strong candidate for end-of-season accolades, though he is currently just four games shy of meeting the 65-game threshold required to qualify for such awards.

His absence will undoubtedly pose a significant challenge for the shorthanded 76ers as they navigate crucial matchups.
