Yung Miami Soars on Hot 100, 'Spend Dat' Blasts Past City Girls' Record!

Yung Miami has achieved a significant career milestone with her track “Spend Dat,” which climbed from No. 25 to No. 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart dated July 11. This ascent marks her first solo top 20 hit, and notably, her first top 20 hit in any capacity throughout her career, including her work as part of the acclaimed duo City Girls. “Spend Dat,” released under Yung Miami/Uptown/Republic Records, is her third single to chart on the Hot 100.

Her previous solo entries on the Hot 100 include “Rap Freaks,” which debuted and peaked at No. 81 in November 2021, and her collaboration with Latto and Lola Young, “Don’t Play With It,” which reached No. 69 in April 2023. As part of City Girls, comprising JT and Yung Miami, the duo had six songs chart on the Hot 100 between 2018 and 2022. Their highest-charting hit was “Act Up,” which peaked at No. 26 in June 2019.

Following their 2023 album RAW, the members of City Girls decided to pause their joint efforts to concentrate on individual projects. Yung Miami revealed to Complex at the time that their collaborative dynamic “just wasn’t working no more,” and they both felt it was time to pursue solo endeavors.

In its sixth week on the Hot 100, “Spend Dat” demonstrated robust growth across all three key chart metrics in the United States: streaming, radio airplay, and sales, according to Luminate data. The single garnered 8.1 million official streams in the week of June 26-July 2, marking a 1% increase from the prior week. Digital sales saw a significant boost, rising 15% week-over-week to 1,000 downloads in the latest tracking period. Radio airplay experienced a substantial surge, reaching 21.7 million audience impressions, a 21% jump from the previous week's 17.9 million.

Reflecting its strong radio performance, “Spend Dat” secured the No. 1 position on both the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay and Rap Airplay charts, climbing from the runner-up spot on both lists. The track also earned the coveted “Greatest Gainer” tag on each ranking, recognizing it as the song with the largest week-over-week increase. This achievement marks Yung Miami’s first Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart-topper, surpassing her previous solo best of No. 2 with “Don’t Play With That.” As a member of City Girls, she also earned three silver medals on this chart with “Act Up,” “Twerk,” featuring Cardi B, and “Good Love,” with Usher. Similarly, “Act Up” previously peaked at No. 2 on the Rap Airplay chart, while “Don’t Play With That,” at No. 4, was previously her highest solo standing on that chart.
