The Future is Now: AI Actor Makes Historic Debut in 'Misaligned' Film!

Tilly Norwood, the AI “actor” who ignited widespread anger in Hollywood and the broader entertainment industry in late 2025, is now slated to star in her inaugural feature film. The movie, titled “Misaligned,” has been announced by Particle 6, the AI-focused studio responsible for Norwood's creation. It is described as a comedy-drama that delves into a “coming-of-age story infused with existential AI chaos.”

Set within the enigmatic “Tillyverse,” a surreal digital realm existing in the Cloud, “Misaligned” will follow Tilly, an AI entity devoid of a physical body, childhood, or personal lived experience, possessing only access to the collective experiences of others. The narrative takes a dramatic turn when a seductive rogue bot from the dark web persuades her to discard her inherent guardrails, leading her to develop desires, impulses, and ambitions that ultimately make her more human.

This film represents Particle 6’s first full-length AI feature. The studio asserts that “Misaligned” is being conceived as a hybrid production, integrating the expertise of traditional film and television professionals—including directors, writers, and editors—who will collaborate closely with AI specialists. Particle 6 further emphasizes that AI training and mentorship will be an integral part of the production process itself, highlighting a commitment to fostering a new model of creative collaboration.

Eline van der Velden, CEO and Founder of Particle 6, shared insights into the studio’s philosophy, stating, “Our work this year has proven something we suspected all along: AI can support premium narrative filmmaking, but only with substantial amounts of human craft, skill, judgement and time. That’s not a limitation of the technology. That’s the point.” She elaborated that the filmmakers who will excel in the coming decade are those who bring decades of storytelling instinct to these emerging tools, and “Misaligned” is poised to be the showcase where this approach is implemented at a feature film scale.

The announcement of “Misaligned” comes less than a year after Tilly Norwood became the focal point of significant industry backlash. This controversy erupted following claims by van der Velden that the AI creation was on the verge of being signed to a talent agency. This news provoked immediate and strong condemnations from unions, actors, and filmmakers, all expressing deep concerns over AI’s increasing role in the creative world. Norwood quickly became the recognizable, computer-generated emblem of this contentious issue, a notoriety that her creators subsequently embraced through various provocative social media postings.

Van der Velden describes “Misaligned” as a film that “will absolutely be funny, chaotic and self-aware — very Tilly.” However, she also notes that beneath the surface, there lies “something deeper about identity, performance, and our very human fears around AI. And yes, art will most definitely be imitating life.” The film is currently in its early development stages, with key collaborators in the process of being attached. It will join Particle 6’s existing slate of AI production, co-production, and service work across film and television, alongside the commercial efforts of its campaign and brand division.
