Tarantino's Long-Awaited Film Finally Revealed With Netflix Trailer

Seven years have passed since Quentin Tarantino's last directorial effort, "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood," graced the silver screen. While the acclaimed "Pulp Fiction" auteur continues to deliberate on his tenth and potentially final film as a director, fans can look forward to the next best thing: a highly anticipated sequel to "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood," set to arrive in select theaters and then on Netflix later this year.

Initially known as "The Adventures of Cliff Booth," Netflix has officially revealed the film's new title: "The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth." This upcoming feature will delve deeper into the continuing saga of the titular ex-stuntman, Cliff Booth, portrayed by Academy Award winner Brad Pitt. Booth was first introduced as the loyal longtime friend, stunt double, and driver to Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio), a once-promising television star whose career was on a downward trajectory.

Cliff Booth's past was fraught with challenges, rendering him largely unemployable. These difficulties included a notable on-set altercation with martial arts icon Bruce Lee and lingering suspicions surrounding the possible speargun murder of his wife. However, Booth demonstrated his fierce loyalty and capacity for decisive action in the climax of "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood," where he gruesomely dispatched several murderous members of the notorious Manson Family, bringing a violent end to their rampage.

A new short teaser from Netflix not only confirmed the updated title but also offered a brief glimpse of Booth driving, accompanied by the iconic Henry Mancini theme music from the classic 1958-1961 TV series "Peter Gunn." This teaser marks the first public footage of the movie since an unreleased Super Bowl teaser earlier this year.

Intriguingly, while Quentin Tarantino has penned the script for "The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth," he will not be in the director's chair. This marks a significant departure, as it is the first Tarantino-written script to be brought to the screen by another director since Robert Rodriguez helmed "From Dusk Till Dawn" in 1996. The directorial duties for this project have been entrusted to the esteemed David Fincher, known for his meticulous and atmospheric thrillers. This collaboration marks a first between Tarantino and Fincher, and it represents Fincher's latest project for Netflix, following his critically acclaimed works "Mank" and "The Killer."

The film is slated for an exclusive two-week engagement in select IMAX theaters starting November 25, offering audiences a premium cinematic experience. Following its theatrical run, "The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth" will make its global debut on Netflix on December 23.

In addition to Brad Pitt reprising his role as Cliff Booth, the cast boasts an impressive lineup of talent. Confirmed stars include Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan as Barry Livingston, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller, Matt Groove, JB Tadena, Corey Fogelmanis, Karren Karagulian, and Holt McCallany. Furthermore, Timothy Olyphant will return to his role as "Lancer" star James Stacy, a character first seen in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood." As of now, there is no official confirmation regarding Leonardo DiCaprio's potential return as Booth's friend, Rick Dalton, leaving fans to speculate on a possible cameo or a different narrative direction for this sequel. The film is produced by Brad Pitt, Ceán Chaffin, David Heyman, Quentin Tarantino, Shannon McIntosh, and Stacey Sher.
