Star Under Siege: Regina Daniels Confesses Drug Use, Blames Husband Ned Nwoko for Exploitation

Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has publicly responded to allegations made by her estranged partner, Senator Ned Nwoko, who claimed her siblings and friends sabotaged her rehabilitation and introduced her to illegal substances. In a statement shared via her Instagram stories, Daniels accused Nwoko of "lying openly without remorse" and attempting to manipulate public perception using her personal struggles. She firmly denied her family's involvement, stating, "You know my family has absolutely nothing to do with this. You have always tried to cut them off because of the bond we share, and now you are trying to make them look bad for no reason."
While admitting to using drugs, Regina Daniels dismissed Nwoko’s assertion that it was the core issue in their relationship. She questioned his timing, remarking, "Fine, I did drugs. So what? Is that even the issue between us? The moment we had a fight, you rushed to the public shouting ‘drugs, drugs, drugs,’ because you knew it would make a perfect story for the media." She further accused the senator of attempting to isolate her from her loved ones to gain control, elaborating, "You want to arrest everyone around me so that I will have no one left beside me, no friend, no support, no safe place to turn to. Then when I’m completely broken, you expect me to come back to you. That has always been your strategy, break people down, make them weak, and then have your way with them."
Daniels escalated her accusations, alleging that Nwoko encouraged her drug use for sexual reasons and subjected her to physical and psychological abuse. "You say you want me to go for rehab, but you are the same Ned who always wanted me high because, in your words, I’m ‘sexier’ when I’m high," she wrote. She also claimed he would "force himself" on her, lock her up, seize her phones, and label her "mentally unstable" when she expressed a desire to end the relationship. Additionally, she accused him of restricting communication with her family and coercing doctors to inject her with drugs intended for patients with bipolar disorder, urging him to "Stop using the ‘drugs’ narrative to distract people."
In a significant disclosure, Regina Daniels insisted that their relationship was never legally recognized, asserting that no marriage documents were ever signed. "For the record, I would have filed for divorce long ago if there was ever a legal marriage between us. We were never married in any court of law. Marriage is not by force. Love is not by force. Stop trying to control what no longer belongs to you," she stated. The actress concluded by expressing shame over the public nature of the scandal but gratitude for finding strength. As of press time, Senator Nwoko had not responded to her latest claims.
Meanwhile, Senator Ned Nwoko has maintained his stance that Regina Daniels, his wife and mother of two, must undergo rehabilitation for alleged drug addiction to ensure her safety and mental clarity for raising their children. In an interview, Nwoko cited a series of "alarming toxicology results" and noted a recent change in his wife's personality, describing her as exhibiting violent and destructive behavior amidst recurrent health crises. He stressed the importance of a healthy environment for their children, stating, "I want her alive and healthy, not just for me, but for our children... Many people have died of drug overdose, and if anything happens to her now, what will I tell her children tomorrow." He revealed he had personally taken her to Nizamiye hospital unconscious from a drug overdose on three occasions over eight months.
Nwoko presented toxicology reports and warned that anyone advising Daniels against proper medical care in rehab was her "real enemy." He stated that the reports indicated high health toxic levels for several tested drugs. Dismissing social media posts by Regina's mother and siblings denying drug abuse, he called them "baseless distractions." He challenged them to arrange for her to visit any toxicologist of their choice, offering to pay. Regarding the origins of her alleged drug use, Nwoko expressed his belief that her siblings, particularly her brother Sammy, and their friends, led her astray. He accused these trusted relations and friends of exploiting her resources to supply her with drugs and sabotaging her recovery attempts, saying, "each time progress was made, they would undo it by smuggling in the same drugs she was fighting to give up."
The lawmaker also expressed dismay over a social media post by his wife's mother, which claimed his son died in the United Kingdom from a drug overdose. He refuted this, calling it an "inhuman attack on the dead" as no autopsy indicated drug-related complications. The marital crisis initially became public when Regina Daniels accused Nwoko of physical assault and expressed her desire to end the marriage, claims which her husband denied, attributing her behavior to substance abuse.
