Shockwaves! John Wick Star Confirms Beloved Action Franchise is Officially Over

Scott Adkins, known for his role in John Wick: Chapter 4, is set to star in the third and final installment of the acclaimed One Shot franchise, titled One Last Shot. Currently filming, the movie will see Adkins reprise his role as Navy SEAL Jake Harris, under the direction of James Nunn. The film is expected to maintain the franchise's distinctive one-take style and is slated for a 2026 release, though an exact date has not yet been announced.
Adkins has confirmed that One Last Shot will feature the return of Kane Kosugi, who will portray the main antagonist. Their reunion, reminiscent of their collaboration in Ninja 2: Shadow of a Tear, hints at a brutal martial arts showdown. The original 2021 film, One Shot, depicted Harris leading an extraction mission at a besieged CIA black site, while its 2024 sequel, One More Shot, trapped his character in an airport with terrorists. While specific plot details for One Last Shot remain under wraps, it is anticipated to pick up directly from where One More Shot concluded, promising an action-packed finale.
Beyond the One Shot franchise, Adkins has also garnered success this year with his performances in other films such as Prisoner of War and Diablo. He recently discussed the stripped-down realism of Prisoner of War with The AU Review, attributing its grounded tone to Australian filmmaker Louis Mandylor, with whom Adkins previously collaborated on The Debt Collector franchise. Adkins highlighted Mandylor's skill in eliminating superficial elements to foster authenticity.
Adkins further explained that Mandylor's commitment to realism guided the entire production of Prisoner of War, leading to on-set adjustments to ensure action sequences felt earned rather than flashy. Adkins, who conceived the film's story, shared that the World War II drama was influenced by classics like The Deer Hunter and aimed to explore the 'struggle of the human spirit,' focusing on the personal resilience of soldiers in captivity. He also designed the story to be impactful while mindful of budgetary constraints.
For fans looking to catch up on the franchise, both One Shot (released November 5, 2021, with a runtime of 96 minutes) and One More Shot are available to stream on Netflix, providing a lead-in to the much-anticipated final chapter.
