Shockwaves in Namibian Music Industry: Nascam Boss Fired Amid Misconduct Allegations

The Namibian Society of Composers and Authors of Music's (NASCAM) board has announced the termination of its chief executive, Albert Nicanor, following a comprehensive disciplinary process. Nicanor was found guilty of several serious charges, including "gross insubordination, fraud, dishonesty, and the negligent and unauthorised use of a company vehicle."

The decision to dismiss Nicanor was made public through a statement issued by the NASCAM board over the past weekend. This development follows his initial suspension in October, which was prompted by allegations of workplace misconduct and claims of intimidation within the organization.

Board chairperson Joseph Aillonga confirmed that Ferdinand Gertze, who has been serving as the acting chief executive, will continue in this role. Gertze will remain in the interim position until the board completes the process of making a substantive appointment for the chief executive.
