President Museveni Launche Wealth Creation Tour in Wakiso, Pledges More Support for Youth Skilling
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Monday, July 7, 2025, officially launched his wealth creation tour in the Greater Wakiso region, beginning with a visit to a youth-led skilling and fabrication center in Kagoma, Nansana Municipality.
The President toured Kagoma United Fabricators’ SACCO and Skilling Centre in Maganjo Kagoma A village.
The group, which initially received government support in 2018, started with two metal-cutting machines worth UGX 1 million. It has since evolved into a thriving enterprise focused on youth training and metal fabrication.
According to sources from Wakiso, the centre’s General Manager, Mr. Tebandeke Edward, told the President that the group currently manufactures wheelbarrows, chairs, beds, containers, and other metal products.
He added that they have trained 97 youths in metal fabrication and can produce up to 40 wheelbarrows per day.
Impressed by the initiative, President Museveni pledged more government support, particularly with raw materials to boost their production capacity.
The President also donated UGX 12 million to the area LC1 chairperson for community development.
In his remarks, President Museveni emphasized the importance of practical skills and local innovation in achieving economic transformation.
“What you are doing here is exactly what we want across the country using your hands and brains to create jobs and wealth. Manufacturing is the future, and I will support those who are ready to work,” President Museveni said.
The visit is part of a broader regional tour aimed at promoting Uganda’s wealth creation agenda, with a focus on empowering community-based enterprises and skilling the youth for self-sustainability.
