Katikkiro Mayiga Praises Museveni’s Support as Kabaka Mutebi Returns in Good Health from Germany
His Majesty Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, the King of Buganda, has returned to Uganda in stable and good health after a medical review in Germany.
The update was shared with the public on Saturday, July 5, 2025, by the Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, through his verified X account.
In his message, Katikkiro Mayiga thanked President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the Government of Uganda for their strong support during the Kabaka’s treatment period.
According to Katikkiro Mayiga, the Kabaka traveled to Germany on June 5, 2025, for a scheduled medical review based on recommendations from his doctors.
This followed nearly a year since his return from Namibia, where he had previously undergone intensive treatment at the Namibian-German Medical Centre in Windhoek.
The Kabaka returned to Uganda on Friday, July 4, 2025, and was warmly received at Entebbe International Airport. Welcoming him were senior Buganda officials, including the Deputy Katikkiro, Owek. Prof. Twaha Kaawaase Kigongo, and other dignitaries.
Katikkiro Mayiga confirmed that the Kabaka’s doctors are pleased with his progress and will continue monitoring his health while he is in Uganda.
“According to the medical reports, doctors are happy with the progress, and they have indicated that they are still monitoring him even when he is here in Uganda,” Mayiga posted.
The Kabaka’s return has brought great joy and comfort to his subjects, especially after ongoing public concern about his health. His appearance in good condition has reassured the people of Buganda and renewed hope within the kingdom.
Katikkiro Mayiga also used the opportunity to thank all Ugandans and Buganda subjects for their continued prayers, patience, and unity during the Kabaka’s absence.
He encouraged the public to remain focused on developing the Kingdom and promoting peace.
The Kabaka’s safe return and recovery mark an important moment for the Buganda Kingdom, where he continues to be seen as a symbol of unity, culture, and leadership.
