Paramount+ Drama '9/12' Snags Andrea Riseborough Alongside Jeremy Strong!

The Paramount+ drama “9/12” is set to explore a profound and relentless legal battle, dramatizing the "David vs. Goliath" struggle that brought justice to ailing first responders of 9/11. This six-episode limited series delves into a landmark case that spanned nearly a decade, ultimately securing almost $1 billion in compensation for those who fell gravely ill in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks.

Oscar nominee Andrea Riseborough, known for her role in “To Leslie,” has joined the cast, portraying Molly. Molly is depicted as a resilient wife, deeply concerned about her family’s future and the health of her husband, a former NYPD cop. Her unwavering demand for help leads her to find hope in the legal expertise of renowned class action attorney Jason Smith.

Jeremy Strong, celebrated for his work in “Succession” and “The Apprentice,” plays Jason Smith, the attorney at the heart of the legal fight. The narrative focuses on Smith, who risked everything to confront entrenched institutions, exposing the intricate web of politics, greed, corruption, and betrayal that exacerbated the tragedy. This systemic failing is sharply contrasted with the extraordinary unity and unflinching bravery displayed by emergency workers as The World Trade Center collapsed.

Barry Pepper, recognized for his performances in “Saving Private Ryan” and “The Kennedys,” stars as Molly’s husband, a former first responder suffering from leukemia, affectionately known as Coach. Their personal struggle underscores the broader impact of the events and the critical need for accountability.

“9/12” is written and executive produced by Tobias Lindholm, who also directs the series, and Frank Pugliese. Jeremy Strong also serves as an executive producer on the project. Andrea Riseborough's recent credits include Jan Komasa’s “Good Boy” and Paul Andrew Williams’ “Dragonfly,” and she is slated to appear as fashion editor Isabella Blow in Alex Marx’s upcoming film, “The Queen of Fashion.”
