South Plains College is excited to announce Patrick “Cinco” Boone as the new head men’s basketball coach. Boone, widely regarded for his leadership and proven success at multiple levels of basketball, brings a wealth of experience and passion to the Texans’ program.
Boone boasts an impressive 22 years of coaching experience, highlighted by his tenure as head coach at Angelo State University. During his time there, he achieved a remarkable 129-67 overall record, four NCAA Division II Regional Tournament appearances and multiple 20+ win seasons. Most recently, Boone served as an assistant coach at Abilene Christian University, where his contributions helped develop award-winning athletes and program-defining victories.
“My family and I are extremely excited about the opportunity to join such a great college, prestigious basketball program and the community of Levelland. Having so many ties to this area, this is a dream job for me,” Boone said. “SPC has the elite reputation of winning championships, graduating their student-athletes and moving them on to great careers at universities across the country. We look forward to continuing the tradition of success and making SPC and Levelland proud.”
Known for his player-centered coaching style, Boone has an established track record of developing talent on and off the court. Under his leadership, dozens of athletes have earned all-conference honors and transitioned to Major Division I programs or professional careers.
