Nigeria's Airports Brace for Cashless Revolution: Pilot Launches in Lagos, Abuja!
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has officially rolled out a comprehensive contactless and cashless payment system, initially at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. This new initiative, unveiled during a press conference at MMIA, aims to eliminate physical cash transactions across all airport services, including access gates, car parks, and VIP lounges.
FAAN projects a significant increase in revenue through this deployment, anticipating a 50 percent boost during the pilot phase and a rise to 75 percent as the system expands to other airports nationwide. The long-term goal is to triple revenue within the first year of full implementation, addressing decades-long concerns from stakeholders regarding what they described as
