Explosive Edo Clash: Governor's Aide Threatens Davido with Violence, Isreal DMW Fires Back!

A heated online dispute has erupted between Nigerian music sensation Davido and Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, escalating into a reported 'ban' on the singer from performing in the state, which has since been fiercely challenged by Davido's camp.

The controversy originated when Governor Okpebholo, while campaigning for the APC candidate in Osun State prior to an election, publicly taunted Davido’s uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke. Okpebholo reportedly questioned the electorate if they were not fatigued by their incumbent governor, whom he described as “unserious and only focuses on dancing.” Davido perceived these comments as disrespectful towards his uncle and swiftly retaliated on social media. He publicly mocked Governor Okpebholo by sharing what he alleged to be the governor's poor WAEC result.

In a subsequent interview, Davido firmly stated his refusal to apologize to Governor Okpebholo, expressing pity for the governor's children due to their father's public conduct.

Reacting to the escalating drama, Kassy Chukwu, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Edo State on Digital Media, released a video harshly criticizing Davido for disrespecting his principal. In the video, Chukwu declared that Davido had been “barred” from performing in Edo State for the entire remaining six years of Okpebholo's anticipated tenure as governor. Furthermore, he dismissed the WAEC result shared by Davido as “AI-generated.”

However, Davido’s aide, Isreal Afeare, popularly known as Isreal DMW, quickly fired back at Kassy Chukwu's claims. In a newly surfaced video, Chukwu not only reiterated the 'ban' due to alleged repeated insults but also issued a threat, warning that if Davido attempted to perform in Edo State, local youths would “descend on him.”

Isreal DMW, an indigene of Edo State himself, vehemently countered Chukwu's assertions. He asserted that no individual could prevent his boss from entering the state, emphasizing that Edo is Davido’s maternal home. Isreal DMW went further to disparage Chukwu, referring to him with various derogatory terms and stating that he does not represent the people of Edo State. He explicitly declared, “NO MAN ON THIS PLANET EARTH, CAN BAN OGA FROM EDO, HIS MATERNAL HOME.”
