Mundubile Mania Sweeps Zambia: Thousands Rally, High-Profile Defectors Boost Campaign

Paul Moonga, a prominent political figure, has officially defected from the United Party for National Development (UPND), a party he had joined in 2025 after previously leaving the Patriotic Front (PF). His defection marks a significant political shift, as he publicly endorsed Brian Mundubile’s presidential candidature. Mr. Moonga launched a severe critique against the UPND, asserting that it is challenging to thrive within the party due to its members’ perceived “stinginess” and unwillingness to provide mutual support. He claimed that the UPND has “completely failed the country” and that its members are not willing to share even the little they possess.

In contrast, Mr. Moonga lauded Brian Mundubile as a magnanimous leader with a demonstrated history of aiding individuals, proclaiming him the most suitable candidate to steer Zambia towards progress. He stated that Mundubile is a generous leader with a proven record of helping people and is the best candidate to lead Zambia forward. Mr. Moonga urged Zambians to seize the opportunity in next month’s general election to vote out the UPND government and elect Mr. Mundubile, who he believes will be a responsive leader dedicated to national development, listening to the people and delivering progress.

Meanwhile, NRPUP presidential candidate Brian Mundubile himself has outlined a comprehensive platform aimed at enhancing the well-being of Zambian citizens. Addressing supporters at a campaign rally in Matero, Mr. Mundubile pledged that an NRPUP government, if elected, would prioritize reducing the escalating cost of living, fostering substantial employment opportunities, and eradicating the pervasive issue of political cadre violence. He emphasized that an NRPUP government would put the interests of citizens first and work diligently to improve their livelihoods.

Mr. Mundubile further emphasized his commitment to placing citizens’ interests at the forefront of his administration, promising to improve their livelihoods through equitable access to jobs for women, youths, and senior citizens. He assured supporters that his government would maintain a strict zero-tolerance policy against political cadres and violence, ensuring that every Zambian can live free from fear or intimidation. Alongside his running mate Makebi Zulu, Mr. Mundubile appealed to the electorate of Matero and the entire nation to vote for the NRPUP on August 13, reinforcing the party’s dedication to serving all Zambians.
