Latin Star Ascendant! Peso Pluma Honored with Prestigious Billboard Vanguard Award

Mexican music star Peso Pluma is set to make history at the 2025 Billboard Latin Music Awards, where he will receive the inaugural Billboard Vanguard Award on Thursday, October 23. The acclaimed música mexicana hitmaker is also slated to perform at the ceremony. The Billboard Vanguard Award is a prestigious recognition bestowed upon artists who "dare to go beyond the conventional," as stated in a press release. It honors individuals whose talent inspires, innovates, and opens new possibilities in the realm of music. This award specifically celebrates visionaries who break barriers, redefine industry standards, and leave an indelible mark on the music industry.
Peso Pluma expressed his profound gratitude for this groundbreaking honor. In a statement, he conveyed that "Being honored with the first-ever Billboard Vanguard Award is an incredible privilege, because it means I get to represent my country on a global stage and showcase the immense talent and beauty that Mexico has to offer." He acknowledged the responsibility of "Leading the charge for a genre," describing it as both a significant pressure and his "greatest pride." He affirmed his dedication to carrying his people, roots, and flag with him always, and articulated his excitement to continue revolutionizing music while showcasing the heart of Mexico. Peso Pluma concluded by extending his deep gratitude to Billboard and Telemundo for this recognition and for their role in amplifying Mexican culture to global audiences.
The singer-songwriter, who hails from Jalisco, Mexico, is widely known for his successful tracks such as “Por Las Noches,” “PRC,” and “AMG.” His remarkable career includes achieving 25 top 10 hits on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart and having 33 songs appear on the prestigious Billboard Hot 100. Furthermore, Peso Pluma was ranked No. 3 on Billboard‘s Top Latin Artists of 2024. Most recently, he achieved another significant milestone by becoming the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s (CFDA) first Mexican ambassador for New York Fashion Week, further solidifying his influence across different cultural spheres.
The 2025 Billboard Latin Music Awards ceremony will be held at the James L. Knight Center in Miami. It will be broadcast live on Telemundo and will also be available for streaming via the Telemundo App and Peacock. Alongside Peso Pluma, a host of other renowned artists are confirmed to perform, including Danny Ocean, Ozuna, Olga Tañón, Laura Pausini, and Óscar Maydon. The awards coincide with Billboard Latin Music Week, which is scheduled to return to Miami Beach from October 20-24. This event will feature an impressive roster of star speakers, such as Kali Uchis, Daddy Yankee, Xavi, Guaynaa, and Netón Vega, offering valuable insights and experiences to attendees.
