In an interview with Collider, stars Ricky Martin and Kristen Wiig shed light on how this dramatic shift in scenery forces their characters, Robert and Maxine, to confront their true identities.

Kristen Wiig, who plays Maxine, emphasized the importance of getting the characters out of Palm Beach, a setting where their security and identity are deeply intertwined with running the town. She explained that the chaos of the Alps, amidst a full-blown blizzard, surprisingly fosters a shaky sense of unity among the women, even as they eventually splinter off. This new environment, while farcical and reminiscent of old MGM movies, strips Maxine down, making her realize the true cost of her ambition and quest for love.

Ricky Martin elaborated on his character Robert's journey, particularly how Episode 9 turns his search for family into a deeper reckoning with himself. Martin noted that Robert's earlier marriage tease evolves into a much messier situation, and his threat to leave stems from an intrinsic need to find his own identity. Having escaped Puerto Rico to find peace and avoid judgment, Robert finds himself in the absurd world of Palm Beach, making the Alps a pivotal moment for self-confrontation.

The actors also shared their experiences filming in the Alps, confirming that all the snow seen on screen was real, not green screen, which created a stunning yet challenging backdrop. Wiig and Martin expressed their enjoyment of the old-school slapstick comedy inherent in these episodes, particularly a scene involving Robert, Douglas, and Perry fighting in the snow. Martin, who hadn't seen the final cut of Episodes 8 and 9 during the interview, was excited about its comedic execution.

While Norma (Carol Burnett) orchestrates her latest power move to secure a fortune for herself and Robert, Maxine is determined to expose the socialite matriarch. This ongoing conflict further underscores the intense pressures and deceptive appearances that define the series. Regarding the highly anticipated finale, Episode 10, both Wiig and Martin refrained from speculating on plot points. Wiig credited showrunner Abe Sylvia and the writers for consistently delivering unpredictable ideas. However, Martin couldn't resist teasing the possibility of a third season, jokingly admitting his desire for Palm Royale to return to "really show off."
