APC First-Term Governors Endorse Tinubu for Second Term Ahead of 2027 Elections
Twenty first-term governors have unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's second-term bid for 2027, citing the necessity of his reforms for national development and stability. The governors also condemned recent attacks and kidnappings both domestically and abroad, vowing to address security challenges.
Governors serving their first term under the All Progressives Congress (APC) have unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office, throwing their weight behind the continuation of the Renewed Hope Agenda ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was announced after a meeting held at the Kebbi State Government House in Birnin Kebbi, where the governors adopted a communiqué outlining their support for the President's reform agenda. The communiqué issued after the meeting said the decision was driven by the need for policy continuity, economic stability and sustained national development.
Reading the communiqué, Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris said the endorsement reflected a shared commitment to national progress, stressing that the governors believed the administration's reforms were necessary to tackle Nigeria's longstanding fiscal, security and developmental challenges.
The governors said their support extended beyond politics, arguing that Nigeria requires consistent leadership to sustain ongoing reforms and strengthen collaboration between the federal and state governments. They also reaffirmed their backing for policies aimed at boosting production, agriculture, enterprise, innovation and job creation.
Beyond the 2027 endorsement, the governors condemned the rising wave of insecurity across the country, including attacks, kidnappings and violence affecting students, worshippers and other citizens. They pledged to intensify efforts in their respective states to curb banditry and improve public safety while urging Nigerians to remain calm.
The communiqué also expressed concern over reported attacks on Nigerians in South America, calling for greater protection of Nigerian citizens abroad while reaffirming the governors' commitment to supporting national unity and security.
