When questioned about the status of Takht, Johar explained that multiple factors contributed to its postponement. Despite these challenges, he expressed a firm intention to bring the film to fruition, stating, "It’s a film on my table, and I will make it one day". He further emphasized the quality of the screenplay, calling it his best work and reiterating his commitment to eventually making the movie.

Takht was conceived as a historical drama centered around the rivalry between brothers Aurangzeb and Dara Shikoh for the Mughal throne. An announcement video had also been released, generating considerable excitement.

In addition to Takht, Karan Johar is involved in several other upcoming projects. He is backing Akshay Kumar’s Kesari 2 and has partnered with Kartik Aaryan for a rom-com titled Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, slated for release in 2026. Johar has also announced Chand Mera Dil, starring Ananya Panday and Lakshya, as well as another film with Kartik Aaryan titled Naagzilla.
