Kacey Musgraves Shocks Fans with Tour Date Cancellations

Kacey Musgraves has announced the cancellation of three dates from her highly anticipated Middle of Nowhere tour, including what was originally slated as the trek's opening night. The affected performances are the August 20 show at United Center in Chicago, the August 29, 2026, concert at TD Garden in Boston, and the September 2 engagement at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Fans were informed of these cancellations through emails dispatched by Ticketmaster, as confirmed by numerous reports and social media interactions. One such notification, shared on Reddit, explicitly stated, "Please be advised that the Kacey Musgraves concert scheduled for Saturday, August 29, 2026 at TD Garden has been canceled. All tickets will be automatically refunded to fans at their original point of purchase. Please allow 7-10 business days for refunds to process." As of now, no official reason has been provided for the cancellations, and Musgraves herself has not publicly commented on the changes, nor have any explanations appeared on her official social media channels.

Despite these cancellations, the Middle of Nowhere tour is still poised to commence in Chicago on August 21, according to Ticketmaster's current tour listings. Notably, the cities experiencing cancellations—Chicago, Boston, and New York—were all scheduled to host multiple Musgraves shows, and tickets for alternative dates in these locations remain available for purchase.

The tour is in support of Musgraves' latest album, also titled "Middle of Nowhere," which was released on May 1. This project follows her 2024 album, "Deeper Well," and features the singles "Dry Spell" and "Mexico Honey." Earlier this week, Musgraves unveiled the music video for "Mexico Honey," depicting the artist performing the track in a vibrant karaoke-bar setting.

"Middle of Nowhere" achieved significant commercial success shortly after its release, debuting impressively in the top 10 across seven Billboard charts dated May 16. It secured the No. 1 position on Top Album Sales, Vinyl Albums, and Indie Store Album Sales. The album also reached No. 2 on Top Country Albums and Americana/Folk Albums, No. 3 on the Billboard 200, and No. 10 on Top Streaming Albums. The project's launch week, ending May 7, saw it earn 100,000 equivalent album units in the United States, marking Musgraves' most successful week ever in terms of units. Vinyl sales played a substantial role, accounting for over 37,000 units, which also represented her personal best sales week for vinyl. Prior to this, Musgraves had achieved two other No. 1 albums on Top Album Sales with "Deeper Well" in 2024 and "Star-Crossed" in 2021. The single "Dry Spell" also saw success, peaking at No. 15 on Hot Country Songs in March.
