Hollywood Legend Jack Nicholson's Status Revealed: He's 'Well,' Says Michael Douglas
Michael Douglas shares an update on Jack Nicholson, confirming the legendary actor is well but no longer working, enjoying a quiet life at home. Despite no formal retirement, Nicholson hasn't filmed since 2010 and recently made a rare public appearance at the SNL 50th anniversary.
Actor Michael Douglas recently provided an update on the well-being and current activities of fellow Hollywood icon, Jack Nicholson. While promoting his new memoir, “One Helluva Ride,” Douglas addressed inquiries about Nicholson, with whom he shares a long-standing relationship.
Douglas candidly stated, “I would have liked to have acted with Jack. He’s not working anymore. He’s well. He has disappeared. I know that.” He further elaborated on Nicholson’s current lifestyle, adding, “I still see him, but he is fine. He is up there by his house and walking around in his slippers. It happens. He deserves it. I understand. He is a few years older than me, but I understand.” Douglas is currently 82 years old, while Nicholson is 89.
Although the two acclaimed actors never shared the screen, Douglas played a significant role in Nicholson’s career by producing the highly successful 1975 film, “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.” Nicholson starred as Randle McMurphy in the critically acclaimed movie, which garnered nine Oscar nominations and secured five wins, including Best Actor for Nicholson and Best Picture.
Nicholson has not made a formal announcement regarding his retirement from acting, but he has not appeared in a film since “How Do You Know” in 2010. Public sightings of the Oscar-winning actor have become infrequent. However, his daughter, Lorraine Nicholson, shared a photograph of him on her Instagram story in April for his 89th birthday. The snap depicted Nicholson clapping and smiling alongside Joni Mitchell, though the date the photo was taken was not specified. Lorraine simply captioned the image with “¡¡ 89 !!” after an earlier post featuring a younger Jack with the query “89?”
Nicholson’s most recent public appearance was in February 2025, when he attended the “Saturday Night Live” 50th anniversary television special on NBC, accompanied by his daughter.
