Hollywood Heavyweights Miles Teller & Eddie Redmayne Set to Team Up in Doug Liman's Explosive New Spy Thriller 'Star One'!

A new spy thriller titled “Star One” is set to launch at the Cannes market, with acclaimed actors Eddie Redmayne and Miles Teller reportedly in talks to star. The film will be directed by Doug Liman, known for his work on action hits like “Edge of Tomorrow,” “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” and “The Bourne Identity.” Liman recently completed work on the AI thriller “Bitcoin,” featuring Casey Affleck and Pete Davidson, and his 2010 CIA thriller “Fair Game” also premiered in competition at Cannes. He is also recognized for films such as “The Instigators,” “Road House,” “Jumper,” and “Swingers.”
The script for “Star One” was penned by David Coggeshall, who has previously written “The Family Plan” and “The Family Plan 2,” both starring Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Monaghan, as well as “Orphan: First Kill” and the upcoming “Orphan 3,” and “The Deliverance.” Producing the film are BAFTA Award nominee P.J. van Sandwijk of Storyteller Productions, known for “Ferrari,” alongside William Sherak of Project X Entertainment, producer of “Scream 7,” James Vanderbilt, known for “Nuremberg,” and Paul Neinstein, who worked on “The Night Agent.” CAA will handle domestic sales for the project, while Black Bear is responsible for international distribution.
“Star One” delves into the untold true story of the first intelligence star ever awarded, focusing on one of modern history's most crucial yet least known missions. The plot centers on two vastly different CIA agents who are forced to collaborate on a top-secret mission. One agent, envisioned to be played by Miles Teller, is described as daring and charismatic, while the other, potentially Eddie Redmayne, is a strait-laced strategist. Together, they must embark on a treacherous journey spanning thousands of miles of enemy territory to covertly deliver arms.
Both Redmayne and Teller bring significant experience to the potential roles. Miles Teller gained critical acclaim for his breakout performance in “Whiplash” and went on to star in blockbusters like “Top Gun: Maverick.” His recent projects include leading Apple Original Films’ “The Gorge,” appearing in the hit biopic “Michael,” and featuring in A24’s “Eternity.” He is next slated to appear opposite Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver in James Gray’s “Paper Tiger,” which will premiere in Cannes and has been acquired by Neon. Eddie Redmayne, an Oscar and BAFTA winner for his lead role in “The Theory of Everything,” is currently filming the second season of Peacock and Sky’s series “The Day of Jackal,” for which he received Golden Globe, SAG, and Critics’ Choice nominations for its first season. He is also set to star in Warner Bros.’ “Panic Carefully” alongside Julia Roberts.
The representation details for the key figures involved include Doug Liman, who is represented by CAA and Weintraub Tobin Chediak; Miles Teller, represented by CAA and Goodman Genow Schenkman; Eddie Redmayne, represented by CAA and Jackoway Austen Tyerman; and David Coggeshall, represented by Writ Large and McKuin Frankel Whitehead.
