Global Spotlight: Uganda Dazzles Havana with Unrivalled Tourism and Investment Opportunities!

The Uganda Embassy in Havana is actively participating in the 41st Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2025), leveraging this significant economic exhibition in Cuba to promote Uganda as a burgeoning destination for both tourism and investment. The fair, scheduled from November 24 to 29 at Expocuba in Rancho Boyeros, serves as a crucial gathering point for public and private enterprises, alongside diplomatic missions from across the globe.

Uganda's involvement in FIHAV 2025 is a strategic component of its broader initiative to strengthen bilateral trade relations with Cuba, attract foreign investors, and expand market access for Ugandan products throughout the Caribbean and Latin American regions. The Embassy's dedicated stand showcases a diverse array of Ugandan agricultural products, authentic traditional crafts, and comprehensive promotional materials highlighting the country's tourism potential and investment opportunities.

Throughout the duration of the fair, Ugandan diplomats are actively engaging with trade representatives, exporters, and sector specialists. Their objective is to identify and foster new avenues for collaboration in key sectors such as tourism, agriculture, and manufacturing, among other growth areas. A particular focus for the Embassy is establishing robust pathways for Ugandan products to successfully penetrate these new international markets.

FIHAV 2025 is taking place amidst Cuba's ongoing economic challenges, including the persistent effects of the long-standing blockade. Despite these pressures, the fair maintains its status as Cuba's primary platform for international economic engagement. This year's edition places a strong emphasis on critical themes such as renewable energy, aligning with Cuba's energy transition agenda, artificial intelligence, tourism development, and the promotion of national export products.

The event has attracted a wide array of delegations and companies from various countries, including Canada, China, Guyana, Indonesia, the Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobago, and Russia. This broad international participation reaffirms FIHAV's importance as a significant regional hub for international trade. First launched in 1983, FIHAV has evolved into one of the largest multi-sectoral trade fairs in Latin America and the Caribbean, offering countries like Uganda a strategic and invaluable platform to significantly broaden their economic footprint and international partnerships.
