Flutterwave's Success Story: 85% of Trainees Secure Full-Time Roles!

Flutterwave, a prominent payments technology company in Africa, has successfully concluded its inaugural Graduate Trainee (GT) program, resulting in the hiring of nearly 85% of its 200 participants. This significant achievement underscores the company's unwavering commitment to nurturing young talent and maintaining its reputation as an exceptional workplace that offers clear career advancement opportunities in the technology sector. The program, a 12-month paid traineeship, was specifically designed for recent graduates with limited or no prior work experience but possessing strong aspirations to enter the tech industry.

The Flutterwave Graduate Trainee Program was meticulously structured to cultivate a robust network of young professionals, equipping them with essential technical and soft skills, as well as practical experience gained by working within a global organization that boasts over 750 employees worldwide. Following the program's completion, more than 170 former GTs have transitioned into full-time roles as Analysts and Engineer 1s. This move is aligned with Flutterwave's newly developed career progression framework, which outlines a clear pathway for growth from an Analyst position all the way up to Executive Vice President.

To commemorate the successful conclusion of this intensive program, Flutterwave hosted a dedicated #RookiestoPro graduation ceremony. This event served to recognize and celebrate the dedication and achievements of the former graduate trainees. Chijioke Okorji, now a Developer Experience Engineer 1 at Flutterwave, shared his positive experience, stating, "I have a better understanding of my career path and have acquired marketable skills that I am proud of. More organizations like Flutterwave should give young people a chance through initiatives like this." He further emphasized the significant personal and professional growth experienced, remarking, "There’s a clear difference in my growth from when I joined, to now."

Mansi Babyloni, Flutterwave’s Global Chief People Officer, expressed immense satisfaction with the program's outcome: “We are excited that our aim of giving 200 extremely bright young graduates opportunities to learn on the job and kick start their careers in tech early in life has finally been accomplished. As 170 of them transition from GTs to full-time employees after completing 12 months of on-the-job training and shadowing, there are myriad opportunities available for them to explore.” Bode Abifarin, Flutterwave’s Chief Operating Officer, extended gratitude for the program's success, acknowledging the vital contributions of the People Team and all Graduate Trainee Managers who provided coaching, mentorship, and training to facilitate the GTs' growth into Analysts and Engineer 1s. This initiative sets a commendable example for other companies seeking to invest in and develop future generations of technology professionals.
