Nigeria's First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has rallied South-East women to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election in 2027, asserting that the nation has moved past economic hardships into an era of prosperity. Speaking in Enugu, she highlighted the administration's transformative efforts and the impactful work of her Renewed Hope Initiative in empowering women and youth.
Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has passionately urged women across the South-East geopolitical zone to actively support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027. Making her declaration at the South-East zonal APC Women Presidential Rally in Enugu on Saturday, Mrs. Tinubu assured attendees that the country has navigated through the arduous phase of economic reforms and is now poised to enter an era of sustained prosperity. She emphasized the President's unwavering dedication to national transformation.
Addressing the large gathering, the First Lady, through a statement from her media aide, Busola Kukoyi, drew a compelling analogy, likening the challenges and initial pains associated with the administration’s economic reforms to the process of childbirth. She articulated that the difficult period was behind them, and the time for Nigerians to experience joy and prosperity had arrived. “As the President said, it is time for prosperity. You know, the pain of labour to birth a child is over. It is time for joy and prosperity,” she stated, reinforcing the message that Nigeria stands on the precipice of a prosperous future after enduring necessary reforms. She implored women in the region to consolidate their support behind President Tinubu's ambition for a second term in office.
Mrs. Tinubu further reiterated the President's resolve to persist in his efforts to transform the nation, proudly describing the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a political party committed to fulfilling its promises to the populace. She took the opportunity to highlight the significant interventions of her personal initiative, the Renewed Hope Initiative. This initiative, she noted, has consistently provided crucial support to women, young people, and vulnerable Nigerians through various avenues, including financial assistance, comprehensive skills acquisition programmes, and the strategic distribution of essential equipment and working tools to empower beneficiaries.
As a key component of the rally, the First Lady officially flagged off the distribution of empowerment items designed to benefit 5,000 women residing in Enugu State, underscoring the practical impact of the Renewed Hope Initiative. The high-profile event garnered attendance from numerous influential political leaders from the South-East region, including the governors of Enugu State, Peter Mbah; Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru; and Imo State, Hope Uzodimma. Also present were the esteemed wives of the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, the APC National Women Leader, and the Minister of Women Affairs, alongside various APC candidates seeking elective positions within the region.
Earlier in the day, the First Lady and other women leaders paid a courtesy visit to the Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council, which is chaired by Igwe Samuel Asadu. Speaking on behalf of the council, Igwe Asadu expressed profound satisfaction with the achievements recorded by the Tinubu administration thus far and formally pledged their collective support for the President. The traditional rulers also extended their commendations to Mrs. Tinubu for her dedicated efforts aimed at enhancing the welfare of women, youths, and children through the diverse and impactful interventions spearheaded by her Renewed Hope Initiative.
