DCI Uncovers Massive Sh691 Million 'Ghost Patient' Scam Plaguing Kenya's Health Scheme!

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has officially launched an extensive probe into a significant number of hospitals suspected of engaging in fraudulent activities related to claims submitted to the Social Health Authority (SHA). This critical development follows a formal handover of substantial evidence by Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale.
During a recent press briefing, CS Aden Duale confirmed that a total of 1,188 files, along with comprehensive supporting evidence, have been submitted to the DCI. This action underscores the government's commitment to eradicating corruption and ensuring accountability within the healthcare sector, particularly concerning public health funds managed by the SHA.
The DCI has identified and listed at least 31 healthcare facilities that are now under scrutiny as part of this investigation. These hospitals are alleged to have submitted fraudulent claims, potentially siphoning funds intended for legitimate medical services and patient care. The investigations aim to uncover the full extent of these alleged schemes and bring any culpable parties to justice.
This concerted effort by the Health Ministry and the DCI highlights a proactive approach to safeguard public resources and maintain the integrity of the Social Health Authority's operations. The outcome of these investigations is anticipated to have significant implications for healthcare governance and financial oversight within the country.
