Kenya Rocked by Explosive SHA Fraud: Duale Hands Files to DCI Amid Public Uproar

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has confirmed the receipt of 1,188 case files detailing alleged fraud within the newly established Social Health Authority (SHA). These files were provided by the SHA itself and the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC), as stated by DCI Director of Communication John Marete. The alleged fraudulent activities involve individuals, various entities, and parties suspected of undermining the government's efforts to deliver quality healthcare services to citizens.
In response to the gravity of these allegations, the DCI has established a multi-agency team. The primary objective of this team is to meticulously review the submitted files to ensure that all individuals involved in healthcare fraud are held accountable, irrespective of their social standing or political affiliations. Furthermore, the investigators have pledged to collaborate with other law enforcement agencies to trace and recover assets and resources that were acquired through these fraudulent schemes.
This significant development follows an intensive forensic review and a comprehensive digital audit initiated by the Ministry of Health. Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale previously announced that these investigations led to the closure of approximately 1,300 health facilities implicated in either fraudulent practices or non-compliant operations.
