Cutting-Edge E-Bike Revealed: Verge TS Pro Powers Up with Solid-State Batteries

CES 2026 Unveiled showcased a diverse array of innovative and unconventional mobility concepts and gizmos, with a notable number originating from France. Many of these exciting new products are currently seeking funding through Kickstarter campaigns, hoping to make a significant impact on the market.
One of the standout introductions was the Verge TS Pro E-Bike, featuring groundbreaking solid-state battery technology. This superbike boasts impressive performance, delivering 737 lb-ft of torque from its hubless in-wheel Donut Lab “Donut motor” and accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds. Its true innovation lies in its battery pack, which Verge claims is the first true solid-state traction battery to be used in an electric road vehicle. Long-range models are equipped with a 33.3-kWh solid-state pack, offering an estimated 370 miles of range and capable of recharging to 80 percent in a mere 10 minutes via a 200 kW Tesla-style NACS plug. A smaller 20.2-kWh solid-state pack provides 217 miles of range and charges at 100 kW, both capable of adding 186 miles in 10 minutes. While specific electrode chemistry details remain undisclosed, Verge emphasized the non-flammable nature of the electrolyte and the use of globally abundant materials, hinting at cobalt- and nickel-free designs potentially featuring lithium-metal anodes with sulfide or similar solid electrolytes, and iron-, manganese-, or sulfur-based cathode strategies. Initial deliveries of the TS Pro began with a conventional 20.2-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, priced just under $30,000. The solid-state version of the same size is priced similarly, while the larger battery model lists at $34,900.
From SQ Motors of Paris, France, came the Sternboard Extreme E-Skateboard, an innovative three-wheeler designed to tackle rough terrains. It features a single powered rear wheel and dual front wheels for steering. Notably, the Sternboard is completely waterproof. Its maximum range with an 8.0-amp-hour backpack battery is an impressive 60 miles, while its built-in 1.5-Ah battery offers 20–25 miles for urban use, where its top speed is regulated to 25 mph (from an unregulated 45 mph). Riders steer by shifting their weight, with acceleration and braking managed via a handheld remote control. A unique selling proposition is its snow-track attachment and front-wheel skis, enabling adaptation for winter sports. The base price for the Sternboard is quoted at $2,200, with the snow gear adding significantly to the cost. The company has reportedly delivered 120 units and is actively seeking Series A funding.
Another French innovation in personal mobility is the Skwheel Extreme Inline E-Skates from Normandy. These electrically powered two-wheel inline skates promise "the sensation of skiing, on all terrains, 365 days a year," available with both city and off-road wheel options. The Peak model, optimized for urban environments, achieves 16 mph with a 19-mile range. For more adventurous users, the Peak S tackles rugged terrain, reaching speeds up to 36 mph and offering a 30-mile range. Online pricing shows the Peak at 990 euros (approximately $1,161) and the Peak S at 1,490 euros (approximately $1,747). Similar to the Sternboard, a remote control handles acceleration and regenerative braking, while an emergency friction brake is engaged by leaning back. The remote also serves a practical purpose, locking the two Skwheels together for convenient towing, much like a carryon bag. Pre-series production for these skates commenced in January 2025.
Further pushing the boundaries of urban transport, the French company ÆMotion unveiled a 4-Wheeled Lean Machine, reimagining concepts like the Toyota i-Road and Yamaha Tesseract. This unnamed quadricycle features indoor tandem seating for two and is designed to lean up to 35 degrees in turns, mimicking a motorcycle's agility while providing the weather protection of a closed vehicle. It offers a range of 42 miles from small swappable batteries, expandable to 120 miles with a long-range fixed battery. With a top speed of 71 mph and a curb weight of just 507 pounds, it measures 92.5 inches long, 31.1 inches wide, and 67.3 inches tall. While there are no current plans for its release in North America or outside Europe, the vehicle has undergone crash testing. Its classification mandates occupants wear a four-point seatbelt but eliminates the need for a helmet. Limited production is slated for late 2026, with an anticipated lease price of around $220 per month, positioning it competitively against small EVs and other urban-mobility subscription services.
Beyond personal transport, CES 2026 also featured the Hydrin 1 Cordless Car Wash, a practical solution for car owners without easy access to hoses or in water-restricted areas. This battery-powered device claims to clean a typical midsize SUV of daily grime using just half a gallon of water. Weighing a mere 21 pounds, the unit integrates a tank, a 5,000-milliamp-hour battery, a hose, and a foam-roller brush. A single battery charge is sufficient to clean two cars, though the water tank requires refilling. The cleaning process involves spraying a foam wash/wax material to loosen dirt, followed by a motorized roller that adds a bit more water. A squeegee then wrings off dirty water, which is vacuumed into a separate wastewater tank, preventing dirt reapplication. The entire process takes as little as 30 minutes, aiming to minimize micro-scratching often associated with waterless carwash products. This product is also on Kickstarter, targeting a market release in February–March, with an approximate price of $400.
