Cavaliers Triumph! Jarrett Allen Dominates as Raptors Eliminated in Thrilling Game 7!

Jarrett Allen, playing in his first-ever Game 7, transformed from his typically quiet demeanor into a vocal and animated leader, fueling the Cleveland Cavaliers to a decisive 114-102 victory against the Toronto Raptors. Allen's dominant performance, marked by 22 points and 19 rebounds, was a pivotal factor in securing the win. The realization of the high stakes hit him on the way to the arena, prompting his shift in approach.
Cavs coach Kenny Atkinson observed a noticeable change in Allen during pregame introductions, noting his center's enthusiasm and high-fives. Allen set an aggressive tone early, attempting a powerful dunk on Cleveland's first possession. After a halftime tie, Allen was relentless in the third quarter, scoring 14 points, grabbing 10 rebounds (including five offensive boards), and adding a block. This surge helped Cleveland outscore Toronto 38-19 in the frame, taking a commanding lead. Atkinson praised Allen's efforts, calling it the best he had seen him, highlighting the crucial inside scoring and offensive rebounding, which provided much-needed support beyond stars James Harden and Don Mitchell.
Allen's newfound vocal leadership continued into the fourth quarter, where he reportedly yelled "Go home" to the Raptors after a brief scuffle. He attributed this change to the high emotions and crowd involvement, explaining it as "Switching to a different role." This vocal aspect had emerged in Game 5 when the Cavs rallied from a halftime deficit to win. Allen emphasized the importance of giving maximum effort, urging his teammates to give "one more effort, give one more push, give one more energy."
With this victory, the fourth-seeded Cavaliers advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals, where they are scheduled to face the top-seeded Pistons in Game 1 in Detroit. The Cavaliers acknowledged the Raptors for providing a challenging early-round test, especially after Cleveland had swept the Miami Heat in the first round the previous year. For the Raptors, Scottie Barnes finished with 24 points and nine rebounds, while RJ Barrett contributed 23 points in their first playoff appearance since 2022. Toronto played without two starters, Brandon Ingram (right heel injury) and Immanuel Quickley (right hamstring injury), throughout the series, yet still pushed the Cavs to the brink.
Coach Atkinson remarked that the series "galvanized" the team, noting that the Raptors' physicality, speed, and athleticism made things difficult. He contrasted this experience with their easier series last year, stating that tough series like this "build you up." Atkinson expressed his satisfaction with going through such a demanding series, believing it would forge a better team. While James Mitchell recorded 22 points on 9-of-20 shooting and James Harden had 18 points on 3-of-9 shooting, the Cavs still won by double digits despite their star backcourt's efficiency struggles. Mitchell viewed this as a sign of the team's growth, emphasizing that success wasn't solely dependent on him and Harden, but on the collective effort of players like Allen and Evan Mobley, and indeed everyone in the locker room.
