Caitlin Clark to waive green flag at IMS on Sunday - NewsBreak
SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) — Fever star Caitlin Clark and Fever head coach Stephanie White will waive the green flag to start practice on Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
They will be joined at IMS by Fever forward Aliyah Boston, Fever guard Sophia Cunningham, Fever rookie forward Makayla Timpson and Fever president Kelly Krauskopf.
The team will get to visit Andretti Global’s Colton Herta before the green flag waives. They will also meet with WNBA student ambassadors.
Clark and the Fever were dominant in their season opener on Saturday, beating the Chicago Sky by 35 points. Clark shined, leading the Fever with 20 points and logged a triple-double as well, tacking on 10 rebounds and 10 assists.
The Fever is not the only Indianapolis professional sports team to make their way over to Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the Month of May. Colts rookies visited the track on Fast Friday.
The top 12 drivers from qualifying on Saturday will compete for pole position on Sunday. The top six drivers on Sunday will move on to the final round of qualifying in the Firestone Fast Six to determine who will start on the pole for the Indianapolis 500.
Alex Palou, Scott McLaughlin and Josef Newgarden were the three fastest drivers on Saturday.
Also on Sunday, the bottom four drivers from qualifying on Saturday (Marco Andretti, Rinus VeeKay, Marcus Armstrong, and Jacob Abel) will compete for the final three spots in the Indianapolis 500. The slowest of those four drivers is bumped from the race.
The Fever get back into action on Tuesday, hosting the Atlanta Dream at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
