Boxing Sensation Fabio Wardley Stuns Parker, Eyes Usyk Showdown
Fabio Wardley secured a stunning 11th-round knockout victory over Joseph Parker in a brutal, exhilarating heavyweight clash at London's O2 Arena on Saturday, October 25, 2025. Wardley, now with a record of 20 wins, no losses, one draw, and 19 knockouts, had Parker (36-4, 24 KOs) visibly dazed and on the ropes midway through the penultimate round, prompting referee Howard Foster to stop the contest as the New Zealander was unable to defend himself.
The O2 Arena, a venue that has witnessed numerous memorable heavyweight battles, added this contest to its history, with both fighters demonstrating immense heart from the opening bell. Parker started strong, utilizing his left jab effectively and appearing to buzz Wardley early on. However, the Brit quickly recovered, dominating Round 2 by landing several impactful shots. Throughout the fight, both boxers found success, targeting both the head and body, making it remarkable that there wasn't an earlier knockdown. Wardley consistently posed a threat with his powerful right hand, a weapon that had secured him many previous knockouts.
Despite being shaken by Wardley's right hand, Parker managed to regain his composure and boxed effectively, but Wardley's relentless pressure continued. At the halfway point, the fight remained finely balanced, with momentum swinging between the two. Parker seemed to gain an advantage at times, only for Wardley to respond with his own damaging blows. However, as the fight progressed, Parker appeared to be accumulating rounds. The tenth round began with Parker showing a flourish, but Wardley swiftly countered with another decisive right hand, cornering his opponent and unleashing a flurry of punches before Parker was saved by the bell. Sensing a definitive end, and spurred on by his manager Michael Ofo, Wardley pounced in Round 11, aggressively taking the fight to Parker until Foster intervened to halt the contest.
The emphatic win earned Wardley the WBO interim title, immediately placing him in pole position to challenge the undisputed heavyweight champion, Oleksandr Usyk. Exhausted yet triumphant, Wardley collapsed to the canvas after his victory but soon used the post-fight platform to directly call out Usyk. Promoter Frank Warren confirmed that the governing body would order Usyk to fight Wardley for all four belts, a challenge Wardley confidently embraced.
Speaking at the post-fight news conference, Wardley articulated his long-held ambition: "That has been the goal for a number of years now. It's been everything I've wanted. We're there. It's a wild one to say but one of the generational talents, one of the best to ever do it, for all the marbles. There's nothing more I could want within this sport." He further warned Usyk, stating, "I'm not planning on getting in the ring with Usyk and going 'thanks for having me' and rolling over. When that bell does go, he's going to have to work for it." Wardley also expressed openness to fighting anywhere, even humorously suggesting his "back garden" in Ipswich, as long as Usyk brings his belts. However, Warren indicated that the highly anticipated undisputed championship bout would most likely land in London, potentially at Wembley Stadium, or Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, possibly in March. Warren praised Wardley as one of the most exciting fighters in the world, promising an exhilarating contest against Usyk.
