Blink-182 Drops Landmark 25th Anniversary Edition of Iconic Album

Blink-182 has officially released the 25th anniversary edition of their seminal album, "Take Off Your Pants and Jacket," through Geffen Records. This release marks a significant milestone, a quarter-century since the record first emerged and reshaped perceptions of what punk rock could achieve in the commercial landscape.

The newly expanded edition enhances the original 13-song album by incorporating six previously unreleased vault tracks, now accessible on streaming platforms for the very first time. These tracks include "time to break up," "mother’s day," "what went wrong," "f— a dog," "don’t tell me it’s over," and "when you f—ed grandpa." These hidden gems were originally distributed across three distinct physical configurations of the album upon its initial release in 2001, each corresponding to one of the iconic emblems on the cover: a red airplane, yellow pants, or a green jacket. Prior to this anniversary edition, these tracks had never been compiled together on a single release.

For collectors and vinyl enthusiasts, a 2-LP vinyl edition pressed on classic black vinyl is currently available for pre-order. A unique feature of this vinyl release is that one of the three aforementioned emblems will be randomly etched onto Side D of each set, adding an element of surprise and collectibility.

Originally launched on June 12, 2001, and expertly produced by Jerry Finn – who also helmed the band’s massively successful 1999 album "Enema of the State" – "Take Off Your Pants and Jacket" made an immediate impact. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, selling over 350,000 copies in its inaugural week. This monumental achievement solidified its place in music history as the first punk rock album ever to open at the top of the chart. Beyond the U.S., the album also secured the No. 1 spot in Canada and Germany and claimed the top position on the U.K.’s Official Rock & Metal Albums chart, underscoring its global appeal.

The album spawned several highly successful singles that dominated the airwaves. "The Rock Show" soared to No. 3 on Billboard’s Modern Rock Tracks chart, while "Stay Together for the Kids" reached an impressive No. 7 on the same chart. "First Date" also successfully cracked the top 10, resulting in all three lead singles from a single album cycle landing within the top 10 of Modern Rock, a testament to the album's broad appeal and the band's songwriting prowess.

Blink-182, comprising its iconic lineup of Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge, and Travis Barker, boasts an impressive career résumé. The band has collectively sold more than 50 million albums worldwide, amassed over 16 billion streams, and garnered a prestigious Grammy nomination. Their extensive discography includes critically acclaimed and commercially successful albums such as the Platinum-certified "Dude Ranch" (1997), the 5x Platinum "Enema of the State" (1999), the 2x Platinum "Take Off Your Pants and Jacket," and the 2x Platinum "blink-182" (2003). More recently, their highly anticipated 2023 comeback album, "ONE MORE TIME…," marked their third No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200, bringing their total chart-topping albums to three and proving their enduring relevance and popularity in the music industry.
