Hillary Lang'at was found dead under unclear circumstances at the entrance of Chesingoro AIC Church, leaving the community in shock and mourning.
Eyewitnesses and those close to Lang'at revealed that he had been struggling with financial difficulties in the days leading up to his death.
According to a report by Citizen TV, Lang'at’s business had been underperforming, making it difficult for him to sustain his family.
The grim discovery was first made by Sunday School pupils, who noticed a pair of slippers before coming across the lifeless body.
"The children first saw his slippers before stumbling on the lifeless remains," said Mercy Bor, a resident of Kusumek.
Authorities have since moved Lang’at’s body to Kapkatet Mortuary as police launch investigations to establish the cause of death.
The incident comes two weeks after an elder at the Ebeneza Seventh Day Adventist Church attacked another congregant.
Francis Opiyo was killed over a suspected love triangle on Saturday, February 1, in Ramoya village, Samba sub-location, Suba South constituency.
The 35-year-old had just read church reports to worshippers before the main service when his attacker struck him.
