Kaduna Gov Clears Tuition Fees

Governor Uba Sani has settled all outstanding tuition fees for Kaduna State-sponsored students in foreign universities, totaling £247,235.84, which is equivalent to N407,937,750. This payment addresses the needs of students, particularly those in Medicine and Nursing, who were previously abandoned abroad by the prior administration. The announcement was made by Yahya Saleh Ibrahim, the Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Scholarship and Loans Board, on Saturday.

Professor Ibrahim further clarified that the affected students were facing difficulties such as the inability to graduate, visa renewal issues, and lack of access to their academic records. A detailed breakdown of the tuition fee payments was provided, highlighting that Debrecen University UK/Hungary received £51,400.00 (N84,810,000.00), the University of Wollongong in Dubai received £13,827.08 (N22,814,550.00), Medical University Havana received £164,010.00 (N270, 616, 500.00), and KIU IUIU Uganda received £17,998.00 (N29,696,700.00).

Mr. Ibrahim emphasized that Governor Sani's action reflects his administration’s dedication to human capital development and broadening educational opportunities for underprivileged students. He also noted that Governor Sani has cleared all foreign tuition fees for state-sponsored students from 2023 to the present. The Governor has instructed the Kaduna State Scholarship and Loans Board to engage with all foreign universities hosting Kaduna State students to verify their tuition fee payment status, ensuring that any outstanding payments not initially captured are addressed.

Governor Sani aims to establish a reliable process that will prevent the hardships faced by Kaduna State students studying abroad. He stressed that this swift intervention demonstrates his commitment to human capital development and empowering the state's youth, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, enabling them to contribute effectively in a rapidly evolving, technology-driven world.

The Executive Secretary reiterated that the Uba Sani administration is dedicated to ensuring that no student is left behind due to financial constraints.
