Eldonets Platinum Clash with Umoja, Equity Bank

Published 3 hours ago2 minute read

Eldonets Platinum is set to host Umoja Basketball Club and Equity Bank Dumas in Eldoret this weekend, resuming their campaign in the Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) Men’s Premier League. Platinum aims to secure their sixth win of the season with these matches, which would significantly improve their chances of reaching the play-offs. However, they face tough competition from Umoja, who are currently in strong form, and Equity Bank Dumas, who have shown gradual improvement.

In other Men’s Premier League action, the University of Nairobi (UoN) Terror will compete against former champions Ulinzi Warriors, while National Bank of Kenya (NBK) Phoenix will face the defending champions, Nairobi City Thunder. These matches were rescheduled from the previous weekend due to the passing of KBF chairman Paul Otula. Notably, there will be no Men’s Premier League matches held tomorrow.

On the Women’s Premier League side, Eldonets Ladies will host Equity Bank Hawks tomorrow. Eldonets Ladies are focused on securing a victory to enhance their position in the top eight and earn a spot in the play-offs. Equity Bank Hawks, the defending champions, are determined to secure maximum points to bolster their title defense and maintain their dominance.

A victory for Eldonets Ladies would solidify their standing in the top eight, while a defeat would diminish their prospects of qualifying for the play-offs. At Nyayo Gymnasium, Zetech University Sparks will face UoN Dynamites today and then compete against Th3 Swish tomorrow. Strathmore University Swords also have a double-header weekend, seeking victories against Th3 Swish and the winless Storms.

Various Men's and Women's Division One matches are also scheduled at different venues at Nyayo and the University of Nairobi. The KBF and the wider basketball community will be holding a memorial service for Paul Otula tomorrow from 2pm to 5pm at the Nyayo Gymnasium to honor the long-serving basketball chairman who recently passed away after collapsing at his home.
