Amazon has officially ordered a television adaptation of Fourth Wing to series for Prime Video, marking one of the streaming platform’s biggest announcements of the year. The reveal came during Amazon’s annual upfront presentation in New York, where Michael B. Jordan appeared alongside author Rebecca Yarros and the creative team behind the adaptation.

The fantasy drama is based on Yarros’ bestselling “Empyrean” book series, which became a global publishing sensation after the release of Fourth Wing in 2023.

The upcoming series follows Violet Sorrengail, a young woman forced into the deadly world of dragon riders at Basgiath War College, where survival is never guaranteed. Amazon assembled a high-profile production team for the adaptation, including Lisa Joy as director and executive producer, alongside showrunner Meredith Averill.
