Amazon Greenlights ‘Fourth Wing’ Series as Michael B. Jordan Leads Major Prime Video Reveal
Amazon's Prime Video has officially greenlit the highly anticipated "Fourth Wing" TV series, based on Rebecca Yarros' best-selling romantasy saga. Announced by executive producer Michael B. Jordan at Amazon's annual upfront, the series will bring the world of Basgiath War College and its dragon riders to the screen. This adaptation joins a host of other major announcements from Prime Video, including renewals and new series pickups.
Amazon has officially ordered a television adaptation of Fourth Wing to series for Prime Video, marking one of the streaming platform’s biggest announcements of the year. The reveal came during Amazon’s annual upfront presentation in New York, where Michael B. Jordan appeared alongside author Rebecca Yarros and the creative team behind the adaptation.
The fantasy drama is based on Yarros’ bestselling “Empyrean” book series, which became a global publishing sensation after the release of Fourth Wing in 2023.
The upcoming series follows Violet Sorrengail, a young woman forced into the deadly world of dragon riders at Basgiath War College, where survival is never guaranteed. Amazon assembled a high-profile production team for the adaptation, including Lisa Joy as director and executive producer, alongside showrunner Meredith Averill.
The project is being developed through Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society production company in partnership with Amazon MGM Studios. The “Fourth Wing” announcement was part of a wider slate of reveals from Prime Video, including renewals and new projects tied to major franchises.
Amazon also confirmed updates for Reacher, Fallout, and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, while showcasing appearances from stars across film, television, and music. Michael B. Jordan’s growing partnership with Amazon continues to expand, with the actor also attached to projects including a Muhammad Ali series and a remake of The Thomas Crown Affair.
