The incident occurred on Thursday, June 26, 2025, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, specifically near the Soka area. According to various reports, the actor was involved in a multiple-vehicle collision while traveling in a commercial vehicle, a crash that tragically claimed several lives.

A video from the scene of the accident quickly went viral, showing Odira Nwobu covered in blood and appearing visibly disoriented as bystanders frantically pulled victims from the wreckage. Despite the severe damage to his vehicle, which was described as mangled with both front and side sections smashed, Odira was seen conscious and receiving immediate help from sympathizers and passersby.
