Pastor Love Discusses Burdens of Pastoral Life

Ghanaian cleric Pastor Love Kweku Hammond, former husband of gospel musician Obaapa Christy, has openly shared his profound concerns regarding the demanding nature and emotional toll of pastoral ministry. In a candid interview with popular media personality Kwaku Manu, Pastor Love revealed that the burdens of a pastoral calling are emotionally draining and isolating, leading him to pray that none of his children will follow in his footsteps. He underscored the immense difficulties, stating, "Being a pastor isn't an easy profession. Sometimes, I pray to God that none of my children becomes a pastor because it is a calling marked by sorrow and depression." This sentiment reflects his experience of facing numerous challenges, including past legal battles, such as being granted and appealing a GH₵2 million bail, and being sent back to Nsawam Prison after failing to meet bail conditions, which highlight the immense pressures he has endured.

Pastor Love further lamented the pervasive lack of peace and happiness often found in this line of work. He emphasized that without personal sources of joy, pastors are vulnerable to severe emotional stress, potentially leading to dire consequences. He articulated the constant scrutiny faced by religious leaders, stressing that many accusations against them are unfounded and can inflict significant psychological damage. "Men of God are often unfairly judged and accused. The stigma can be overwhelming," he remarked, adding that this constant oversight can hinder their ability to express themselves freely and authentically.

Addressing persistent rumors, Pastor Love firmly dismissed allegations that he employs black magic or 'juju' to perform miracles. He asserted that his abilities stem from a divine gift, evident in his preaching and extensive gospel songwriting. "When I begin to preach, you'll have many questions—because God is involved. Just look at the number of songs I’ve written. That should be enough proof that what I have is a divine gift, not black magic," he declared, reinforcing the spiritual foundation of his ministry.

Beyond his reflections on ministry, Pastor Love has recently made headlines for other notable statements and actions. He shared a troubling prophecy concerning Ghana’s immediate future, urging citizens to observe noticeable shifts in the country's well-being and engage in urgent prayers for divine mercy, warning of impending turmoil due to collective character and deeds. He also publicly endorsed Agradaa, also known as Evangelist Mama Pat, encouraging her to use her platform to inspire positive change in lives. Pastor Love concluded by appealing to the public for a deeper understanding of pastoral work, portraying it as a frequently lonely and thankless path, despite its inherent spiritual significance.
