Zimbabwe's Ammara Brown Stages 'Spectacular' Comeback, New Album Imminent!
Ammara Brown marked a triumphant return to the music scene at this year's Castle Lager Braai Festival, ending an absence of more than a year following the birth of her second child. Draped in a vibrant red dress at the Glamis Arena, Brown symbolised the fiery energy she is renowned for on stage, captivating revellers as she rediscovered her powerful form.
The songstress candidly spoke about the intense preparation involved in her comeback. "It was really big. Like, I gave birth a few months ago and it was wild trying to get back to my body. About a month ago I started going to the gym, I had to train my voice. I do not think I have ever worked this hard to sound this good, but it felt good because I remembered I am able to become this person," Ammara Brown revealed. This rigorous training underscored her dedication to returning to the spotlight in peak condition.
Despite the festival being overshadowed by superstar headliner Winky D, Ammara Brown delivered a powerful and memorable performance, reminding everyone of the talent they had missed during her prolonged absence. Her resolve to make a significant comeback and avoid sliding into obscurity was evident throughout her set.
Brown also shared insights into her secret weapon for this return, emphasizing a philosophy of self-competition and authenticity. "I think one of the special things I realised is that you are really competing with yourself. When you get to a certain stage of life, you realise no one else can do what you do. I think that authenticity is what the fans love. They want to see you, and that has got nothing to do with anybody else," she explained.
Building on a career that has seen her collaborate with industry giants like Jah Prayzah and Mr Eazi, Ammara Brown is now taking a bold step with the release of her debut album, titled "Flaming Lily." This project is the culmination of her time away from the public eye and was created in collaboration with her partner. Describing the process, Brown stated, "My partner is from Norway, and we fell in love while he was in Norway and I was in South Africa. At the time, I was working on my new album, called Flaming Lily, with Brian Soko, the Grammy award winner. He was like, Ammara there is a song that I am hearing in my head and I think it is for you. We got into the studio, and it is a beautiful love song about me and him." The album promises to be a deeply personal and significant artistic statement.
